Test Match in mid-Pacific. Over the wall was 6 and out. On some ships, such as
the "Calchas" when she was a middy ship, the game was taken seriously enough
for lines to be chalked on the deck to mark where the ball had to reach to
score runs, and there were scoring rules for balls hit on to and over the
hatches and anywhere else they might conceivably go. Even the Old Man had a go with the bat on occasion (see below).
